Vail School District Puts Money Into the Classroom

j0436161A headline in Saturday’s paper proclaimed “Percentage of funds used for classrooms is down” {Arizona Daily Star, 2-28-2009}.

NOT IN VAIL.  As per a recent report from the Auditor General Office (Click on “Full Report with District Pages” under “Arizona Public School Districts’ Dollars Spent in the Classroom Fiscal Year 2008″).

The percentage of money spent in Vail’s classrooms actually went up AND Vail continues to lead all other districts in the Tucson Area in regards to the percentage of money that is spent in classrooms.

Congratulations to our principals and other hard working administrators for their effective AND EFFICIENT leadership.

  1. This is indeed good news. I deliberately moved into the Vail District when the Lutheran Churches in Tucson were unsuccessful in establishing a Lutheran High School. I have been most impressed with the Vail District. As a retiree from the Pima Community College District I watched a very efficient community college become a bloated bureacracy hampered and slowed from doing anything innovative. Vail District is the polar opposite of my experience at Pima. Well done!
